3 Myths about COVID-19 and what people honestly believe.

3 Myths that circulated about Covid-19

The year-end of 2019 was the start of a pandemic that made its way through every community on this globe. The skepticism of COVID-19 was believed to be fake news or scare tactics to many people until reality hit people in the face in March 2020. While many had outspoken opinions on why they felt COVID-19 was not real, Reality set its course when it hit close to home.

In today's post, I’m going to go over three myths I’ve heard about COVID-19, and I’ll explain how extreme these could get with misinformation.

As we know, COVID-19 has been a thorn in the side of every household this year. While December 31, 2020, marks the calendar year’s end, It doesn’t conclude practicing safety and social distancing. January 2021 is a new start for us all, but we must first overcome the most outrageous ideas that stick in people’s minds regarding this pandemic.

Wearing a mask doesn’t protect you from COVID-19.

Some people in public fear their rights are restricted when required to wear a mask. The mask increases protective measures between you and others. Is it tough to just wear it for 15 -30 minutes in a store? Failing to do so shows you have no respect for people’s health around you. For years, medical professionals have worn masks during surgeries to protect them from a patient’s bodily fluids and things flying towards their face. In June 2020, 86% of adults reported wearing a mask. My concern is the 14% who didn’t wear a mask and if they had COVID. What prompted them not to do so? Overall, The increase in people wearing the mask could significantly impact the number of cases paired with social distancing. Let’s mask up.

Negative test results = No COVID

Negative results may be good news to some who’ve never had COVID, but it doesn’t mean you out in the clear. While every person who tests could have false readings, the question remains: When will they have COVID? A person can have the COVID and show no symptoms and pass that to someone else quickly. Senior citizens and children are catching this virus because people are too comfortable and not protecting themselves until we can control this outbreak. For example, A parent could test negative and pass it to their child. That child can give it to other children if they’re not cautious in public. People’s interconnection in various places such as restaurants, stores, and other areas provides connection attempts that hard to stop. It’s best to solo until then.

You can catch COVID from drinking Corona beer.

Now this one was the funniest one of all. Surveys showed that 38% of people felt this beer brand had some connection to COVID. As news spread, the Constellation Brands (STZ) stock dropped. The stock price of STZ dropped to $105.64 on March 23 and increased back to $219.05 by day end of December 31, 2020. Constellation Brands (STZ) was interesting due to its name misinterpretation by the ongoing Coronavirus name share. It took some time for people to get over this, but you must admit that it was not fun for STZ to market their products.

So now you have three myths that people honestly believed but are not confirmed by any means. You’d find interesting things out on the web that can become a reality fast through little research, especially social media. Let go into 2021 with a new mask and protect ourselves to get closer back to reality. Remember, wearing a mask for 15 - 30 minutes in public will reduce this virus to attempt to get back to normal.

Which myth stood out to you most?
